Our Favorite Winter Resources from TpT

We’ve always found that season change can help introduce new concepts in the classroom.  It’s easier to make content relatable to the things that are happening right outside the classroom window.  Winter doesn’t have to be a dreary time in the classroom, because there are some resources on Teachers pay Teachers that are snow joke!

ELA

Winter Reading Comprehension Passages by Katie King (Grades 1-3): Teaching little kiddos reading comprehension at such a young age is snow joke.  Luckily, Katie King has created 6 engaging reading passages coupled with self reflection questions and space to practice handwriting.

Winter Reading Comprehension Passages and Questions by Literacy 4 Kids (Grades 3-5): Included in this package is a total of 4 passages and 10 questions each.  You won’t have to worry, these passages are also practicool and are standards based!

Math

Shape Snowman by Caffeine and Kindergarten (Grades PreK-1): Data collection doesn’t have to be burring, and it can be a great time to incorporate both math and crafts!  This lesson is a great way to decorate your classroom and reinforce math standards!

Winter Math Mystery: Case of the Snowman Army by Mrs.J’s Resource Creations (Grades 2-6): Math can be a great oburrtunity to crack a case!  With Mrs. J’s lesson plan, students can solve the case of the Snowman Army using math clues.

Science

Winter Science by Salandra Grice (Grades PreK-2): From science experiments with names like Chocoholic (yum!) and Snowball Fun, your chill-dren are sure to have a fantastic time with these lesson plans.  For the budget conscience teacher: most experiments listed in this lesson plan are items you can find around the house!

Melting Snowman and Snow Slime Science Labs by Smart Chick (Grades 3-5): Unless you’ve been left out in the cold, you know that making slime is the newest fad!  Students will think you’re the cool teacher once you show them the science behind creating snow slime!

Social Studies

New Years Activities for Social Studies and Literacy by Rebecca Davies (Grades 2-4): Give your students a fresh brrspecctive by teaching them how to set goals for the New Year!  Included in this Mini-Unit is a lesson on how cultures celebrate all around the world.
